Sustainable Revit Family: Parametric Light Shelf
A light shelf helps increase the performance of a window by distributing daylight deeper into spaces. Additionally, tilting the exterior part of a light shelf can increase the amount of light reflected onto a ceiling by bouncing light at more oblique angles. The light shelf family in Revit Architecture is a tool for demonstrating the optimum angular tilt of the exterior shelf. The tilt of the modeled shelf is automatically rotated from a calculation given with the user input of the solar altitude on the time of day and year that is of primary concern for the design. The vertical location of the shelf is also determined from the room depth. Other parameters are window width, height, and sill height, and shelf thickness and depth.
